TOP 27 Things to Do in BERLIN Germany 2023 | Travel Guide

Berlin Wall Memorial

The Berlin Wall Memorial is a place of remembrance for those who lost their lives trying to escape the GDR. It is a moving memorial, especially considering many victims were young children.

Other Attractions

In addition to the memorial, there is a reconstructed section of the border fortifications, a documentation center, and the modern Chapel of Reconciliation.

Currywurst and Berliner Weisse

A visit to Berlin wouldn't be complete without trying the city's most iconic dish, currywurst. Kaonnopke's Imbiss is one of the best places to taste this delicious treat. After lunch, you can enjoy a refreshing Berliner Weisse, a slightly sour beer served with green woodruff or red raspberry syrup.

River Cruise and Museum Island

Take a one-hour river cruise around Museum Island to relax and enjoy the beautiful sights of Berlin. The tour covers famous landmarks such as the Berlin Cathedral, TV Tower, Reichstag, and Chancellor's Office.

Neues Museum

Visit the Neues Museum, one of the main attractions on Museum Island. It houses the famous bust of Queen Nefertiti and other Egyptian sculptures and prehistoric artifacts.

Alexanderplatz and the World Clock

Alexanderplatz is the heart of Berlin, with numerous shopping malls and bustling activities. Don't miss the iconic Weltzeituhr, a world clock that can display the local time in 148 cities worldwide.

Craft Beer and Bar Hopping

Experience Berlin's craft beer scene at Braufactum, a craft beer and burger place. Enjoy a delicious beer and burger before heading to Kottbusser Tor, a popular area with many bars. Explore bars like Biererei, and end the night at Admiralsbrücke with a Berliner Kindl Radler.

East Side Gallery

The East Side Gallery is the world's most extensive open-air mural art gallery. It features murals painted on a preserved section of the Berlin Wall, expressing ideas of freedom, peace, and tolerance. Don't miss the famous mural by Birgit Kinder, depicting a Trabant breaking through the wall into freedom.

Charlottenburg Palace

Visit Charlottenburg Palace, the former residence of the Prussian kings. Explore the beautiful rooms, including the private quarters of King Frederick the Great, in the new wing.

Sadly, many decorations and fringe were lost during World War II, but the palace is still beautiful. You can imagine what life was like here in the 18th century. Other palace attractions include the more somber winter chambers, the old baroque palace, and the palace park, which is perfect for a stroll in summer.

The Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche was once a magnificent church but was almost destroyed during a bombing in 1943. Today, the leftovers serve as an anti-war memorial and are worth a visit. The remains were stabilized after the war, and in the 1960s, a modern octagonal hall of worship and a bell tower were added.

The Kurfürstendamm is one of Berlin's most famous shopping streets. If you enjoy shopping, this is the place for you in Berlin.

We'll start our day with a trip to Ritter Sport Bunte Schokowelt. Ritter Sport is a famous German chocolate brand, and its flagship store offers various chocolate bars. You can even create your chocolate at the entrance.

I had the chance to taste my self-designed Ritter Sport chocolate bar, which had pepper, gummy bears, and M&M's. It was amazing! I then took a scooter to my next destination.

The Tiergarten is one of the biggest inner city parks in the world. One of its major landmarks is the Siegessäule, also known as Goldelse. Take a walk around the park to discover more.

The Tiergarten used to be the preferred hunting ground for the Prussian kings. It was later converted into a public park and still serves as one today.

KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens) is the biggest shopping mall in continental Europe. It is vast and has a legendary food court on the sixth floor. Take a look inside and enjoy a meal.
