What up, guys? Today we're discussing where to travel alone if it is your first time. I have traveled to over 65 countries alone and traveled to six out of seven continents solo. In all of that time, with all that experience, some places are fantastic for first-time solo travelers because they're just more accessible. They're super safe, easy to navigate, easy to meet other people, just easy easy easy but also awesome awesome awesome. So this list is 10 countries long; you've got a lot of options all over the world. Let's dive right in:
Iceland
Iceland is just so magical, and it is consistently ranked number one in terms of safety. Iceland is also straightforward to navigate, especially if you're doing the ring road. You'll meet other people at the campsites doing the same thing as you, or at the hotels. If you want to be alone, you can also have solitude. Begin in Reykjavik if you want to meet people; that's where everyone starts anyway. Spend a couple of days there, get to know people, and stay at a hostel to facilitate that and make it easier. Get a rental and give yourself at least a week to see the ring road.
Thailand
Thailand is great for first-time solo travelers. It is simple and easy to get around, with an excellent bus system and public transport. You're going to meet so many other travelers no matter what part of the country you decide to go to. There are mind-blowingly gorgeous temples in the north and famous islands like Koh Tao or Koh Phi Phi in the south. There are also quieter islands like Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi. Thailand is known as the "banana pancake trail" for a reason, and it's perfect for first-time solo travelers.
Japan
Japan is one of Earth's most intriguing, culturally unique countries. The friendliness is unparalleled and it is one of the safest countries to travel to. The subway system can be advanced, but there are people whose job is to help you when you get lost. There will be a language barrier, but people still try to be welcoming and conscientious.
Germany
Germany is diverse and offers a mix of funkiness in Berlin and the beauty of the Bavarian Alps. Stuttgart is another area worth exploring, with waterfalls, mountains, and Christmas markets. Berlin is a melting pot of cultures and calls in people from all around the world.
New Zealand
New Zealand is a place that few people go to and don't fall in love with. The hiking and landscape are fantastic, and there's much to do. You can rent a camper van or a car and drive around. Plus, if you are a native English speaker, communication is accessible.
Peru
Peru is recommended because of the Inca Trail. You can join a hiking group with a built-in group to interact with and get to know. The Inca Trail is beautiful and allows you to see one of the world's ancient wonders. You'll also meet other people who are into backpacking.
Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
The Galapagos Islands offer the opportunity to join a cruise and explore the islands. It doesn't have to be expensive, and you can meet awesome people on the cruise. The wildlife and marine life in the Galapagos are incredible.
