Cost of a Trip to the Maldives
Today we are on our 4th day in the Maldives, and it's our 3rd video in the Maldives series. We are heading out for snorkeling and water activities, followed by a special dinner. In this video, I will be discussing the budget for a honeymoon or family trip to the Maldives and how you can save money. Our journey is to Gaafaru Island, where we will snorkel in the clear, turquoise waters and enjoy a beach dinner.
We had a fantastic time snorkeling and saw turtles, colorful fish, and even some baby sharks. The snorkeling experience costs around $35-$50, but it was worth it. After snorkeling, we returned to our hotel for a light lunch before preparing for the special honeymoon dinner on the beach. The dinner was beautifully decorated, and we appreciated the effort put into making it perfect.
Last Day in Gaafaru
Today is our last day in Gaafaru, and we have a return flight to Mumbai in the afternoon. We will take a speedboat from Gaafaru to Male International Airport, which takes around 75 minutes. Once we arrive at the airport, we have about 4 hours before our flight. Instead of touring Male, we decided to relax at the airport and prepare for our journey back to India.
Documentation for Returning to India
When traveling from the Maldives to India, you need to fill out the same Imuga form as when arriving in the Maldives. You must also upload documents such as a COVID test report, which can be obtained from your hotel or resort for $50 per person. After returning from any foreign country, you must also submit an Air Suvidha form.
Total Expenditure
If you are planning a similar trip to mine, here is the breakdown of the costs:
Flight from Male to Mumbai: INR 30,000 for 2 people
Hotel stay (4 nights): INR 20,000
COVID test report: INR 7,000
In addition to these costs, activities such as beach dinners, snorkeling, and speedboat fares between islands amounted to around INR 23,000. I spent around INR 80,000 for the trip, around INR 40,000 per person. Please note that these are pre-COVID rates, and the current costs may have increased.
Traveling on a Budget
If you want to have a budget trip to the Maldives, here are a few tips:
Opt for a public island stay instead of a water villa or luxury resort.
Snorkeling and other activities can be enjoyed at a lower cost on public islands.
Take the opportunity to visit the local village and interact with the locals.
By following these tips, you can have a wonderful experience in the Maldives without breaking the bank. This information helps you plan your trip. For more details, please watch the previous videos in the series.
Thanks a lot for watching this video till the end. We will meet soon in the following travel series. We will have an informative and entertaining journey. BYE
