Is Positano Worth the Hype?! Italy's Amalfi Coast


You're the chosen ones. Superpowers! So now it's time to get some food. One of the things we did this morning to save some money is we just had a croissant for breakfast, a super light start to the day, but now it's time to enjoy a delicious meal. We will have some lunch right here at Ristorante Buca di Bacco.

Food and Drinks

  • We have an Aperol Spritz, a recommended drink.

  • We have Limoncello, a traditional liquor from Positano.

  • Vegetarian appetizer: eggplant croquette with mozzarella.

  • Two incredible entrees: ravioli with burrata cheese and a local Amalfi coast specialty.

Beach in Positano

This beach is lovely, but it's not perfect. Here are a few reasons why:

  1. The area near the water is primarily pebbles and stones, which are uncomfortable on the feet.

  2. The beach is sectioned off, with most sections being private.

  3. There are some public beaches and private beach clubs.

Exploring Positano

One of the best things to do in Positano is to leave it and go on day trips to places like Capri Island and Amalfi.

Boat Trip

If you want to maximize your time in Positano, boat trips are a great option. You can rent a boat and drive it yourself or hire a driver. Prices range from 60 to 150 euros.

Swimming in a Cave

We had the opportunity to swim in a cave below the cliffside. It was a thrilling experience!

Positano. Thank you, captain! Goodbye! Until next time, I hope. By 6 or 7 pm, the beach is quieter, the temperature has dropped, and the sand is nice and manageable. I have a private beach to myself. I like it.

Who is Positano?

First, I came into this with a predisposition to almost dislike this place. I thought it would be too touristy, overhyped, and expensive. But I see how this is a fantastic place for some people. It's not for budget-conscious travelers, as you won't get top value for your money. However, seeing one of the world's most beautiful places is worth it if you want to make a short day trip here. You can see everything in half a day here. It's a bougie place, but if you come into it knowing you will spend some serious cash, this is a fantastic vacation spot.
